Responsible Products

Responsible products to
support holistic green building

At GBCSA our primary focus is on promoting sustainability through whole buildings, however we often receive inquiries regarding environmentally conscious products that can complement green building initiatives.

GBCSA does not certify products, but we do recognise the below eco labels

Exclusive benefits for GBCSA product members

GBCSA Product members enjoy discounts on certifications from Eco Standard and Global GreenTag. This can be a valuable advantage for those committed to promoting environmentally responsible products.

Additionally, we also make use of eco-labels within specific initiatives of some of our Green Star tools.

About the GBCSA Member Product Catalogue

As a member-based organisation, we have a diverse community of members who manufacture and distribute products that would be well placed in green buildings. The GBCSA Member Product Catalogue is designed to profile these member organisations and their environmentally-conscious offerings.

Please note that the listing in the catalogue does not imply GBCSA’s endorsement of these products. Instead, it is a means of connecting local producers and distributors to support better solutions for green building projects.

FAQ

If your organisation is a GBCSA Product member and produces or distributes products suitable for green buildings, please contact Shaundre Abrahams at [email protected] for inclusion.

At GBCSA we certify whole buildings. We will not test, review or certify products or materials; only building projects.

GBCSA focuses on certifying entire buildings, not individual products or materials. Product suppliers can market their offerings as contributing to a project’s Green Star rating. However, please note that the product itself cannot be Green Star certified, Green Star rated, or officially approved or endorsed by GBCSA.

GBCSA relies on credible, third-party product certification bodies. These bodies are evaluated against the criteria outlined in the GBCSA Product Certification Scheme – Assessment Tool. Our Evaluation of Product Certification Schemes, available to members through the GBCSA Hub Dashboard, provides information about recognised product certification schemes and the process for seeking recognition. These recognised schemes are specifically utilised in the materials calculators of the Green Star Interiors tool
