Role Summary
The Key Accounts Specialist is responsible for managing, nurturing, and growing strategic relationships with GBCSAās key stakeholders, partners, and member organisations; as well as sourcing and recruiting new members. This role ensures that existing and new stakeholders receive exceptional service, timely support, and value-aligned engagement across GBCSAās certification, membership, and training offerings. The Key Accounts Specialist drives stakeholder growth, retention and satisfaction by understanding client needs, promoting GBCSA solutions, and facilitating seamless interactions that support the organisationās mission to advance green building practices in Africa. Additionally, the role contributes to revenue growth, fosters longāterm partnerships, and supports the uptake of GBCSA programmes through proactive engagement and effective account management.
Responsibilities
Strategic Accounts Management
- Manage a defined portfolio of key stakeholders, partners and members organisationās, ensuring strong engagement and satisfaction.
- Source new members from the built environment and sustainable development space.
- Recover members who have not renewed.
- Develop tailored account plans including objectives, engagement strategies, and annual activity schedules.
- Maintain regular contact with key stakeholders and provide proactive support.
Stakeholder Engagement & Relationship Building
- Build and strengthen relationships with developers, asset owners, architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, and sustainability leaders.
- Facilitate structured check ins, review meetings, and stakeholder feedback loops.
- Represent GBCSA professionally at external engagements, events, and industry platforms.
Revenue Growth & Commercial Support
- Identify opportunities to upsell and cross sell GBCSA solutions such as certifications, memberships, training programmes, and events.
- Drive annual renewals and ensure timely processing of related documents.
- Collaborate with finance on invoicing, purchase orders, and payment follow ups when required.
CRM, Reporting & Administration
- Ensure all client interactions, pipelines, opportunities, and account details are accurately recorded in the Clickup system.
- Produce monthly/quarterly reports on account performance, risks, engagement levels, and revenue forecasts.
- Maintain an organised and efficient workflow to support account management activities.
Advocacy, Marketing & Sector Support
- Encourage stakeholder participation in case studies, awards, conferences, and campaigns.
- Support promotion of thought leadership, sustainability initiatives, and GBCSAās vision and values.
- Contribute to targeted outreach or sector-specific initiatives.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure all stakeholder interactions adhere to GBCSA policies, POPIA requirements, ethical standards, and certification protocols.
- Identify and escalate operational, reputational, or delivery risks.
Continuous Improvement & Market Insights
- Monitor market trends, industry shifts, and regulatory developments relevant to stakeholdersā sustainability goals.
- Provide recommendations for enhancing stakeholder experience and strengthening GBCSA service offerings.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Technical, Education and Marketing teams to ensure coordinated stakeholder service delivery.
- Share stakeholder insights to inform improvements to services, tools, communications, and processes.
Requirements
- Bachelorās degree in Business, Sustainability, Environmental Science, Marketing, or related field is recommended.
- 3ā5 yearsā experience in key account management, client relationship management, or stakeholder engagement.
- Experience within the built environment, sustainability, ESG, or related sectors is advantageous.
