Situated in the heart of the university’s lower campus, the new School of Education was built in 2020/21 to be one of UCT’s
first Green Star rated buildings. It was designed to have a responsible impact on the environment, and comprises a three storey building with a mixture of office and lecture spaces. The building has been deliberately designed around an existing
forest ecosystem to ensure minimal impact on the surrounding trees, and to retain as many mature trees as possible.
