Project

UCT GSB Academic Conference Centre

Cape Town, Western Cape Download Case Study

Project Overview

The Breakwater development, owned by the V&A Waterfront, was constructed in 1860 and since 1991 the remaining buildings house the Breakwater Lodge and the University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business (UCT GSB) Campus - under a long term lease with the V&A.

The UCT GSB Academic Conference Centre is situated opposite the GSB building. The Conference Centre will offer commercial conferences and has been designed on four levels. The basement houses a stepped auditorium, ideal for the larger seminars and for big groups of conference delegates. The ground, first and second floor contain multi-purpose flat venues which can operate either as independent spaces, or the entire area can be opened out to cater for bigger functions. There are also a number of smaller breakaway rooms, meeting rooms and supporting offices.
