The Existing Building Performance (EBP) Rating with Performance Periods During 2020/Covid-time document is now available online for Project Teams wishing to certify buildings over this time frame.
Covid-19 has radically changed the way commercial buildings are occupied and managed. Periods of lower occupancy affect energy consumption, water usage and waste generation as well as other categories monitored under the Green Building Council South Africa’s (GBCSA) Green Star Existing Building Performance (EBP) rating tool. This tool measures the performance of a building over a 12-month period and compares this data with relevant benchmarks.
In response to the impact of Covid-19, the GBCSA has made certain allowances for Project Teams submitting projects under the Green Star EBP tool. This ensures that the building can in fact target a certification during this Covid-period and is operating efficiently within the present parameters.
The Existing Building Performance (EBP) Rating with Performance Periods During 2020/Covid-time document is now available online for Project Teams wishing to certify buildings over this time frame. It provides information on how Project Teams should address the impacts of Covid-19 on EBP projects and provides technical guidance for this rating tool.
