Green Star AP Tiering

The mid-quarter of the year has been filled with big and small celebrations. GBCSA Academy certified 19 Accredited professionals in respective Green Star courses.

We congratulate the well-deserved achievement and wish all new APs well in their future endeavours. The Green Star AP status opens a door to prosperous development opportunities and provides professionals with cutting-edge in the green sector space. Not only are APs equipped to guide and lead a Green Star Certification project, but the new added knowledge and network also open the door to entrepreneurship and so, gain multiple income streams through consultant and other freelance work opportunities.

GBCSA has implemented a system where Accredited Professionals are arranged in three distinct tiers dependent on qualification, experience and level of activity and engagement in the industry. The tiering system works as follows:

1.  Accredited Professional Candidate (APc)

Students can take their first step towards a career geared towards sustainability by completing the GBSCA Green Building Certification Programme while enrolled in their university.

The completion requirements are to complete the Green Building online AP course modules,  attend the online  workshop, and pass the corresponding final assessment . Upon graduating and gaining 6 months of industry experience, an APc can go on to become an AP by submitting proof of work experience with the aid of a signed reference letter on a company letterhead.

2.  Accredited Professional (AP)

Industry professionals who want to reflect the realities of a changing world in their working life are entitled to complete a GBCSA Accredited Professional programme.

An active status as an AP is maintained by achieving between 5 – 10 points within a 12-month cycle. New APs score 5 points by passing their final assessment, this allows a 12-month grace period.

3.  Accredited Professional Practitioner (AP+)

An AP+ is an AP that has demonstrated higher levels of activity through practising as an AP and engagement with the GBCSA through attending training, events, tours, and other knowledge-sharing events in a 12-month period.
