Join the GBCSA Pool of EDGE Auditors

Are you a certified EDGE Expert ready to take the next step? GBCSA is calling on experienced EDGE Experts to join our respected pool of EDGE Auditors. Help accelerate green building in Africa by supporting projects through the EDGE certification process.

What is an EDGE Auditor?

An EDGE Auditor is responsible for independently assessing whether a building meets the EDGE standard by evaluating objective evidence. This includes:

●    Reviewing project documentation (Design Audit)

●    Conducting site inspections (Site Audit)

●    Making a certification recommendation to GBCSA

Important: EDGE Auditors must be independent from the developer, owner, or project team of the project being audited.

How to become an EDGE Auditor?

If you’re an EDGE Expert and want to also become an EDGE Auditor, here’s how to qualify as an EDGE Auditor with GBCSA.

1. Check Your Eligibility

Check the current eligibility criteria and requirements in the IFC Licensing Protocol for EDGE Auditors.

2. Submit your application to GBCSA

Submit the requested documents to GBCSA for review, this includes:

  • A copy of your EDGE Expert certificate
  • An updated CV highlighting relevant experience in construction or real estate
  • Evidence of certified EDGE projects you’ve worked on
  • Any other green building credentials or supporting documents as required

3. Attend the EDGE Auditor Training

Complete the GBCSA EDGE Auditor Online Workshop (see booking details below).

4. Review and sign your EDGE Auditor Licence Agreement

If your application is successful and training is completed, you’ll receive an EDGE Auditor licence agreement to review and sign.

5. Receive your Interim EDGE Auditor Licence

Once your agreement is submitted, you’ll be issued with an Interim EDGE Auditor Licence. This typically takes a week.

6. Complete your first project

Once your interim EDGE Auditor licence is approved, you may begin auditing projects.

Once your first project (including both preliminary and post-construction audits) is reviewed and approved by GBCSA, your status as a fully licensed EDGE Auditor will be confirmed.

Ongoing Professional Development

To maintain high standards, EDGE Auditors must refresh their licence every 3 years. GBCSA supports this process, helping you stay updated and impactful in the green building space.
