CEO of Green Building Council South Africa to Speak in Melbourne, Australia
The CEO of the Green Building Council South Africa (GBCSA), Dorah Modise, to take part at the Green Cities Summit in Melbourne from 13 to 15 March 2018.
The conference is co-hosted by the Green Building Council of Australia and the Property Council of Australia under the theme- Energizing communities.
Under this theme, Speakers and participants will be encouraged to explore a series of sustainable solutions and rethink resilience.
Some key questions to be deliberated on include: How will health and wellbeing impact the way we build our cities? What can we learn about communities through reconciliation? How will we win the race to resilience? What is the level of ambition from the different sub-sectors within the property industry?
Ms. Modise will take part in two separate panels; the one titled: “Chatting with the Chiefs” will be a panel conversation of CEOs of some of the largest GBCs and here the conversation will focus on key areas of secession and challenges encountered in leading the green building movement within their respective countries. The theme of the other session is “trend spotting with global leaders” and this session will mainly consider key trends that will drive the global green building movement in 2018 and beyond.
In addition to participation at conference sessions, Ms. Modise will use this opportunity to connect with fellow CEOs and share lessons and insights on the running of respective councils. Of more interest will be the interaction with City representatives and industry stakeholders that will be in attendance.
The GBCSA has just passed its 10 year mark in October 2017 and while there is a marked growth in its impact, the council has set its eyes on ensuring that every new and existing building, precinct and neighborhood in South Africa is conforming to the best standards of a low carbon, resource efficient and climate resilient future while maximizing financial gains, improving health and wellbeing as well as productivity.
