As a key instrument to assist in the pursuit of its promise, the GBCSA uses rating tools to transform the market towards the cutting edge of sustainability.  This rating tool review and version change will be a significant evolution of the Green Star New Build Tools.

The Green Star  – New Build Version 2 rating tool is being developed for new developments and major refurbishments, and some of the major objectives are to: – raise the bar/benchmarks for the South African industry that has evolved since the first tool was launched in South Africa in 2008 (in line with other leading international rating systems such as LEED, BREEAM, Green Star Australia, etc.)  i.e. for the rating tool to continue to be at the cutting edge of sustainability; – make the certification process easier, cheaper and faster and allow smaller and more mainstream projects to achieve a Green Star rating, while not losing the robustness and the prestige of the tool at the same time

To ensure complete representation of stakeholders, within the industry, the GBCSA wishes to secure Technical Working Group Members from diverse sub-sectors of the building, property and construction sector.  All applications will be considered.
