Now Available: CPD Accredited Training from the GBCSA Academy

As the Built environment is continuously evolving, it gets ever more important to emphasise the value of continuing professional development. CPD enables professionals to strengthen and enhance their current skills while reducing any knowledge skills gap, providing a competitive edge in times where one is needed.CPD also set individuals apart in the job market, as many candidates competing for similar roles often hold similar fundamental qualifications.

GBCSA Academy is excited to share that our Green Star Accredited Professional, Green Star Professional Team Member and Energy Performance Certificate Insights training are validated by the South African Institute of Architectural Technologists. SAIAT is mandated by the South African Council for the Architectural Profession’s Board Notice 43 of 2017: Continuing Professional Development and Renewal of Registration, to validate Category 1 CPD events presented by third parties. CPD Certificates will be issued for Category 1 events. It will be issued to professionals and candidates who are registered with SACAP.

Important information from SAIAT to attending professionals:

  1. CPD Certificates will be available within 60 business days from the date that you, GBCSA, have submitted your data online to SAIAT in the correct format.
  2. All CPD attendance submissions will be subjected to an audit – SAIAT compares the signed or system-generated attendance register with the Excel spreadsheet as submitted– any discrepancy will cause a non-acceptance and once you have resubmitted it again, the 60 business days will start.
  3. Any errors on certificates due to errors in the submission documents will only be corrected once a correction fee has been paid.
  4. Professionals will have to download their certificates from SAIAT’s website [link: https://www.saiat.org.za/cpd-certificates]. No certificate will be e-mailed to individuals.

Lisa Reynolds

Chief Executive Officer & Executive Director

Lisa Reynolds is the CEO of the Green Building Council South Africa.

Lisa was the driver for the drafting of Energy Efficiency Standards and Regulations for Buildings and has been involved in Energy Efficiency since 2003. She serves on many committees in the SABS and within the energy management professionals’ space. She was President of the SAEEC from 2016 to 2019 and was the previous President of the ESCo (Energy Services Companies) Association. Lisa was instrumental in the formation of SAFEE (Southern African Females in Energy Efficiency) within SAEEC.

She has assisted the South African Government with its Green Building Framework policies, Energy Efficiency Tax Incentives and Energy Efficiency Strategies

Her passion for the “Green space” started with the birth of the Green Building Council in 2007. Lisa served on the Board and the Technical Committee of the GBCSA, as well as on several Technical Working Groups for Rating Tools and Criteria. Lisa. became CEO in June 2020.

Lisa has a BSc, an MBA and a CEM. Lisa’s awards include the 2007 ETA Award for Women, 2008 Individual Energy (SAEE), 2012 SABS Standards Writer Award; the 2014 Women in Energy (SAWIEN); and the 2016 Ian Lane Hall of Fame award.

Lisa is committed to growing the Green Economy within a Green Recovery.
