In order to conserve our natural heritage, the Green Building Council SA has partnered with Greenpop, a local tree planting organisation, to plant trees thousands of trees in reforestation projects in South Africa. Since the beginning of our partnership in 2013 we have planted 2500 trees in Africa’s southernmost forest.  Greenpop is a social enterprise that plants and maintains trees; and spreads environmental education in under-greened communities and reforestation projects in Southern Africa.

Greenpop is on a mission to (re)connect people with our planet. In addition to reforestation, they also conduct urban greening projects in the townships of Cape Town and spread environmental awareness wherever they go. As they say, it’s a Treevolution. Get involved:
1. Sponsor a tree which they will plant on your behalf. You’ll get a personalised certificate with the GPS co-ordinates of where it is growing. This makes a great green gift!
2. Get your hands dirty and attend a reforestation event with your friends or family.
3. Take your team on a company tree planting day – great as a team building activity or CSI project.
