Hi All

Welcome to the first official Green Building Council of South Africa (GBCSA) Newsletter since we opened for membership last month! I know we’ve been quiet in the last few months, but fantastic progress has been made on a number of GBCSA initiatives, including:

  • our successful Membership Launch at the SAPOA Convention
  • the Breakfast Presentation on a 6 Star Green Star building in Sydney
  • the announcement of our Inaugural GBCSA Convention & Exhibition
  • the development of the first Green Star SA Rating Tool
  • our first Founding Member sponsors come on board

Awareness of green building and the profile of the GBCSA is growing by the day. Thank you to everyone for the fantastic support thus far. We look forward to seeing you all at the PILOT Rating Tool launches in July (details to follow) as well as our official Convention and Exhibition from 2-4 November at the CTICC.

Please note that our website is finally up and running – have a look on www.gbcsa.org.za!

As we are now formalising our structures, we hope that your organisation will join us as official members – you can register online via our website.

We will keep you informed of GBCSA progress more regularly in future and hope you will continue to support us as we move forward.

Low-flow water fittings decrease the amount of water used per minute. For hot water uses, they not only reduce water consumption but also save the energy that would have gone to heat that water. Consider low-flow fittings and aerators on all water taps used for hand washing, dish washing and showers.
(For process water uses that require specific quantities, low-flow fittings will only result in longer filling times.)
